Three people, including one child and two adults, were killed this morning in a shooting in Brookville, Queens.

The New York City Fire Department were called to the scene of the fatal shooting at 5:40 a.m. Saturday morning. The girl child, 7-years-old, and two female adults, aged 31 and 62, were found shot in the head at a residence located at 231-11 148th Avenue. Another 12-year-old girl was also found in the home with severe injuries, and was transported to the Long Island Jewish Hospital. She is known to be in critical condition.

The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Jonathan Walker. It is unknown what relationship the man has to the family or what circumstances surround the murders.

The man fled the scene and is still at large. Police officials are avidly hunting him, and have asked that anyone with information to his whereabouts call (800) 577-TIPS (8477) or visit Crime Stoppers .

Walker is described to be six foot, six inches tall and 260 pounds. He was last seen wearing all black clothing. He is believed to be armed with a.45 caliber firearm and is thought to be driving a silver 2013 GMC Acadia SUV with New York license plate GVS8110.

This is the third report in recent weeks in which a young child has been killed at the hands of an adult.

Last week, Hyphernkemberly Dorvilier, 22, of New Jersey was charged with setting a newborn baby girl afire outside a residence. The woman boldly stopped in the middle of the street, doused the child with accelerant, and lit her aflame. Onlookers were told that the bundle was dog feces, and it was discovered too late that the pile of what appeared to be rags was, in fact, a baby. The child succumbed to the severe third-degree burns that covered most of her body.

Earlier this month, 25-year-old John Jonchuck Jr. drove toward the Skyway Bridge in Tampa, Florida. He stopped in the middle of the road, exited the vehicle, and took out his 5-year-old daughter, Phoebe, from his car. He carried her to the guard rail and threw her over the edge . The child fell over 60 feet to the waters below the bridge. Her lifeless body was found two hours later with the help of area fishermen.

Both culprits are being held pending trial.

It’s difficult to fathom how children such as these and the young 7-year-old and 12-year-old in today’s news become involved in such atrocious and abhorrent crimes as a fatal shooting. Law enforcement officials rely on information and details that those surrounding the incidents can provide, in addition to the evidence. If you have any information pertaining to these cases, please contact the police.
