Warner Bros. rolled out a new Man of Steel poster on The Dark Knight Rises official Facebook page today.
Featuring a handcuffed Superman surrounded by a military squad — Brit actor Henry Cavill will play the titular lead — the imagery suggests this rebooted franchise will mine the darker side of heroic.
Directed by Zack Synder, there’s no way to predict what — if any — plot liberties screenwriter David Goyer may take. But with Christopher Nolan executive producing, much is expected from this team.
With previous Man of Steel teasers receiving less than rapturous reception back in July, Warner Bros. will be hoping that changes when the official full length trailer plays in theaters before The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14.
At this year’s Comic-Con , Cavill spoke of wanting to:
“… Bring as much of the modern Superman into the world. You guys know everything about him. You’re there through thick and thin. This is for everyone else out there. To bring him to the modern world that everyone can associate with.”
Starring Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Kal-El, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, and Michael Shannon as General Zod, Man of Steel will be released in IMAX 3D and hits theaters on June 14, 2013.
Until then, here’s the new poster and an old teaser.
