In the quest to expand its ever-growing collection of streaming content, Netflix recently inked a deal with Turner Broadcasting to bring a number of popular shows to the service.
In addition to getting a number of animated shows from both Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, Netflix will also gain exclusive access to the first two seasons of TNT’s Dallas . According to Deadline , the revival of the classic 80s drama won’t be available for streaming until January of 2014.
The official press release for the deal between Netflix and Turner details a number of the titles that will be available on the service starting March 30. Robot Chicken , Aqua Teen Hunger Force , and Johnny Bravo are just a handful of titles available to subscribers.
Netflix’s Ted Sarandos had this to say about the recent deal:
“We are delighted that Netflix will become the exclusive over-the-top streaming subscription destination for past seasons of favorite Cartoon Network and Adult Swim titles. We’re also thrilled to be able to offer the latest seasons of Dallas, one of the greatest all-time guilty pleasures.”
Not surprisingly, Turner Broadcasting’s Deborah K. Bradley seemed to mirror the streaming service’s sentiments. She explained in the press release:
“We’re happy to offer our popular programming to Netflix members, as SVOD services have become another way to grow audiences and can introduce new viewers to our programming.”
The Turner Broadcasting agreement is the latest content deal struck by the streaming service in recent days. Last month, Netflix worked with Disney to bring a large number of its animated films to subscribers. If the deal with Cartoon Network is any indication, it would seem the company is very interested in beefing up content aimed at children.
