The upcoming Need for Speed movie dropped a behind-the-scenes featurette at E3 2013.

Since E3 deals with anything and everything related to the video game industry, the folks at Dreamworks decided to give fans a quick look at what’s currently going on behind-the-scenes with the upcoming adaptation.

Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame will star in the upcoming Need for Speed movie . Since it’s probably going to be a while before a proper trailer makes its way onto the internet, you can satisfy your own need for speed by checking out the clip embedded below.

The behind-the-scenes featurette showcases some fast cars and some spectacular stuntwork. Instead of simply using CGI to bring these chaotic collisions to life, director Scott Waugh is doing whatever he can to make this stuff happen in front of the camera. The end result has the potential to be very impressive.

Waugh knows a thing or to about delivering awesome stunts. The guy worked as a stuntman before turning his attention to the director’s chair. He has helped out on such notable action flicks as Michael Bay’s Bad Boys 2 , Mr. & Mrs. Smith , xXx , and The Scorpion King .

The Need for Speed movie was written by George Nolfi ( The Bourne Ultimatum ) John Gatins ( Real Steel ). Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, and Michael Keaton will co-star in the big-screen endeavor.

Here’s how First Showing describes the story:

“Framed for a crime he didn’t commit, muscle car mechanic and street racer Tobey (Aaron Paul) gets out of prison determined to settle the score with the man responsible for his false conviction. Tobey tears up the road in a gritty cross-country journey— one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption.”

Scott Waugh’s Need for Speed movie is currently slated to arrive in theaters at some point next year. Are you looking forward to catching the adaptation on the big screen?
