The time is near for the NCIS dreaded moment when a staple character, Ziva David will exit the show. Executive producer Gary Glasberg teases that it will be “heart wrenching”.

In response to fan outcry because of the “shocking” departure of actress Cote de Pablo, who plays Ziva, Glasberg is making comments about how her final episode will go.

He promises an “amazing” resolution to her story in the plot line, which according to the executive will be “a moment in television history”.

In an unusual open letter to loyal fans, Gary Glasberg gives some hints as to how Ziva will exit the show.

Glasberg says in his letter that de Pablo’s departure after ten years in the show, which is the most popular scripted TV show, was a complete shock to everyone.

He explains that NCIS producers have been working throughout the summer to bring resolution to Ziva David’s story and they are confident they have done the character justice.

“Let me start by saying, ‘Thank you’” Glasberg tells fans, “we genuinely appreciate your letters and emails. I know Cote’s decision was a shock to everybody. Us too. But we need to remember that, in addition to being a professional family, we’re a television show, and change happens. Writers move on. Actors move on.”

Glasberg reminisce that NCIS has run for 234 episodes and many remember as if it was yesterday when the show went on air with the episode called, “Yankee White”.

He adds that he respects de Pablo’s decision to move on with her career and looks forward too bringing the show into the future.

“The amazing resolution you’re going to see is pretty damn heart-wrenching and we’re incredibly proud of it. Prepare yourselves for a moment in television history. Images that will end up in the archives. I couldn’t be happier with how my NCIS family stepped up and did some of the most emotional work we’ve ever done.”

NCIS says goodbye to Cote de Pablo’s Ziva David on September 24.
