Naya Rivera says that something is definitely missing on the set of Glee , and that the cast members are still trying to move on after Cory Monteith’s tragic death.
“[We’re] definitely taking it day by day,” she explained to E! News ‘ Jason Kennedy at Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards in L.A.
“I would say that something is definitely missing, and you can feel the shift, but I think that everybody’s really just leaning on each other and trying to do good work. I think that’s the most important.”
Production on Season 5 started on August 5. The show is planning on moving ahead with a Beatles tribute for its first two episodes (which was planned before Monteith’s death) followed by a tribute episode for the late actor.
Creator Ryan Murphy told TVLine that the third episode will deal with the death of Monteith’s character, Finn Hudson, “which, you can imagine, is a very difficult episode to write. [It] has to be done very carefully and with a lot of taste and really making sure that it’s a tribute to Cory.”
Naya Rivera accompanied her castmates to the Teen Choice Awards this weekend, during which Lea Michele, Monteith’s on-screen and real-life girlfriend, was given the Choice TV Actress award.
In her acceptance speech , she spoke at length about her late love for the first time publicly, and offered a touching tribute to his life and legacy.
“I wanted to dedicate this award to Cory. For all of you out there who loved and admired Cory as much as I did, I promise that with your love, we’re gonna get through this together,” she said.
“He was very special to me and also to the world, and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart.”
Our thoughts are with Lea Michele, Naya Rivera, and the cast and crew of Glee as they attempt to move the show… and their lives… forward in this trying time.
