Nancy Pelosi appeared on The Daily Show on Thursday, saying that calling Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney a “champion for women” is a “Mitthology.”
Pelosi appeared on the episode on October 25 to talk about the House of Representatives and what their goal is for the election, reports The Daily Caller . Pelosi stated during The Daily Show :
“The Republicans want to sever the Medicare guarantee, end it as a guarantee for seniors. That, to me, is the most important thing that is on the ballot when you think of the impact it has on seniors and their families. And you know what? They misrepresent it.”
Pelosi added, “They say — you know, they reverse it. They say we took money, spent it on Obamacare. Not true.” She also stated that, while President Obama may call Romney’s stance “Romnesia,” she calls it “Mitthology,” notes The Los Angeles Times . She added:
“Women — respect for women, or not — that’s another ‘Mitthology,’ that he’s a champion for women. Please.”
Stewart quipped back, “I think they [Republicans] would probably push back on the idea that the election’s about whether or not you respect women.” Peliosi responded:
“But it is. And women have the most — just about the most — to lose, whether you’re a woman of childbearing age or a senior woman, in my case.”
Jon Stewart joked back, saying that since he wasn’t a part of either category, he’s “not qualified to answer.” Pelosi appeared to appreciate his comments, saying:
“Well, that’s good. It’s good you say that because my Republican colleagues say of me that I think I know more about having babies — having five children myself, they say, ‘Nancy Pelosi thinks she knows more about having babies than the Pope.’ “
Do you agree with Nancy Pelosi that calling Mitt Romney a “champion for women” is a “Mitthology”?
