MTV’s The Challenge is coming back, and this time the fan favorite show is going somewhere it has never gone before. Unlike past seasons, where former contestants of The Real World , The Challenge and Are You the One have competed against each other for huge prizes, but this time MTV is bringing back some of the most popular contestants and pairing them with their family members for The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines .
And in an even more shocking announcement, Chris “CT” Tamburello, is returning to the show for the first time since he lost his on-and-off love Diem Brown to cancer while competing on the last Challenge , Battle of the Exes II . CT, who is one of the most dominant men to compete on the show, will not only be there to compete in Diem’s memory, he will also be there competing with Diem’s sister Megan, Zap2It reports.
In the promo trailer (below), CT promises that he has returned to the show to “cause havoc,” although havoc and drama are not hard to come by when it comes to The Challenge .
On-and-off couple Cara Maria and Abram are seen kissing, fighting, and throwing cheating accusations at each other in the trailer , and five-time winner Johnny Bananas declares he’s “here to restore the crown” while competing with his cousin. Bananas even spoke to Starcasm earlier this year about his Bloodlines experience.
“If you think after what I’ve accomplished on these shows that I’m going to go out the way I did on the last one, then you’re sadly mistaken. I will say that there’s definitely something in the works and get your popcorn ready.”
So who else is going to compete against CT and Johnny Bananas for the top prize on Bloodlines ?
Abram Boise from Road Rules: South Pacific will compete with his brother Adam Boise.
Aneesa Ferreira from the Real World: Chicago will appear with cousin Rianna Polin.
Camila Nakagawa from the Spring Break Challenge will be there with her sister Larissa Nakagawa.
Cara Maria Sorbello from Fresh Meat II will be there with her ex Abram but will be on a team with her cousin Jamie Banks.
Newcomer Christina LeBlanc from Are You The One?: Puerto Rico will compete with her sister Emily Reese.
Ladies man Cohutta Grindstaff from the Real World: Sydney is back for another season, but this time he is joined by his cousin Jill Tuttle.
Cory Wharton from the Real World: Explosion will compete with his cousin Mitch Reid.
Are You The One?: Puerto Rico’s Dario Medrano has brought along his twin Raphy Medrano.
Last season’s finalist Jenna Compono from Real World: Explosion has brought her cousin Brianna Julig to see if she can finish better than third place on The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines .
As previously mentioned, Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio, originally from the Real World: Key West , is competing with his cousin Vincent “Vinny” Gliatta.
Real World: Sydney and Cohutta ex KellyAnne Judd has brought her cousin Anthony Cuomo.
Fan favorite Leroy Garrett from the Real World: Las Vegas (2011) will compete with his cousin Candice Fowler to see if he can finally take home the top prize.
Leroy’s Real World co-star and drama queen Nany Gonzalez has brought her cousin Nicole Ramos along for the Challenge ride.
Thomas Buell from Real World: Ex-Plosion will compete with his twin brother Stephen Buell.
Lastly, Tony Raines from Real World: Skeletons has brought his brother Shane Raines to The Challenge .
Noticeably absent from the list of competitors is CT and Diem Brown’s sister Megan, which indicates that they may not be full-time contestants on the show. Or, MTV may want to have CT’s return to the show a surprise for fans and the other contestants. In the trailer, you can hear host T.J. Lavin say he has a surprise, then one of the other contestants declares, “This changes everything.” Could that be someone’s reaction to CT’s triumphant return?
Find out what happens when the show premieres Wednesday, December 2 at 10/9c.
