MSNBC Anchor Stephanie Ruhle Apologizes For ‘Fake News’ About Trump Hotel [Video]

MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle issued an on-the-air apology this afternoon for claiming earlier in the day that Fox News held its Christmas party at a hotel owned by President-elect Donald Trump.

In a panel discussion this morning on MSNBC about potential conflicts of interest between Trump the businessman and Trump the politician in terms of alleged self-dealing, the host of MSNBC Live With Stephanie Ruhle claimed that “Think about the hotel in Washington right now. The RNC is having their Christmas party there. Fox News had their Christmas party there. That doesn’t feel a little hinky?”

The RNC is the Republican National Committee.

“Amidst the media’s obsession with supposedly stopping fake news, MSNBC Live aired a fake news story of their own on Friday morning,” NewsBusters noted about the fake news about Fox News partying at Donald Trump’s new hotel in the nation’s capitol.

The Mediate website decided to look into the matter further.

“We reached out to Fox News to clarify this statement and were informed that Fox hasn’t had its party yet. That party is not scheduled to be held at Trump’s Washington hotel, or any other Trump property. Instead, it will be held at the Liaison Capitol Hill in D.C.”

Later today, after a discussion about Trump’s plan to retain an executive producer credit on the Celebrity Apprentice, the former- Bloomberg reporter issued an apology on MSNBC while guest-hosting for Thomas Roberts.

“This is some serious business that I need to share. I need to apologize to the audience. Earlier today in a segment, I stated that the Fox network held their holiday party at Trump’s D.C. hotel. I was wrong. We’ve since learned that neither Fox network nor an affiliate held any party at Trump’s Washington hotel. I stand corrected. I apologize for the error. I am truly, truly sorry. The mistake is entirely my fault. And, of course, I wish all my friends over at Fox a very happy holiday no matter where you have your party.”

Commenting on the Ruhle remorse, as well as the ongoing controversy over fake news generally, which — as alluded to above — the media echo chamber has seized upon as a major talking point, Western Journalism observed that “A conservative cynic might say she doesn’t look all that remorseful — maybe it was the giggling — but there’s progress here…But the reality is that the really dangerous fake news isn’t showing up on obscure websites with sensational headlines. It’s getting dropped innocuously into mainstream media coverage where it goes by with a lot less notice than Ruhle’s made-up blunder.”

You may recall that Trump took some heat from the media for taking a few hours off from the campaign trail on October 26 to attend the grand opening of the Trump International Hotel in D.C., which was built on the site of the Old Post Office near the White House.

MSNBC anchor Brian Williams claimed on Tuesday night that “fake news played a role in this election and continues to find a wide audience,” the New York Post reported . Ironically, Williams was permanently booted off NBC Nightly News in February 2015 for making up war stories and other fibs, during which he acquired the derisive nickname “Lyin’ Brian” for a “chopper whopper.”

Back in September, Ruhle got into a dustup with Arkansas Attorney General and Trump supporter Leslie Rutledge during the Miss Universe controversy, when Rutledge, in a pivot, asserted that the New York business mogul created thousands of jobs while Hillary Clinton created none. Ruhle disagreed with that assessment.

Most poll-obsessed mainstream or corporate media outlets are still processing that despite most predictions , Donald Trump won the presidential election on November 8.

Separately, as the Inquisitr chronicled earlier today, the Hillary Clinton campaign allegedly approached MSNBC to try to get Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski kicked off the air for suggesting that the Democrats were overconfident about the-then upcoming presidential election.
