Buddy movie The Internship staring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson is a movie about two laid off middle-aged salesmen who take jobs at Google. Yes, you heard that right: The major motion picture is about working in Mountain View, California.
The movie actually sounds pretty funny as Vaughn and Wilson attempt to fit in with their 20-something counterparts in a world they don’t understand. The movie will debut this summer, and, surprisingly, it is not only loved by Google; it was actually supported by the tech giant.
In a statement for the film, Google offering the following statement:
“We’re excited that Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson chose the Google campus as a backdrop for their first film together since Wedding Crashers.”
In fact, Google gave the films stars and their film crew access to the company’s Mountain View headquarters and its works.
Google went one step further by placing a rare link on its Google.com homepage. The link went to a promotion page for the Google+ Hangout Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson were doing with host Conan O’Brien.
This is not the first time we have seen a big push behind a social network based movie. Of course, The Social Network was a different type of film; it was serious, allegedly based on real facts and backed by the world’s largest social network success story.
If you haven’t been lucky enough to see the trailer for The Internship , here it is:
