E.L. James is not done with the Fifty Shades of Grey stories yet! On Monday, June 1, James announced plans for a fourth book in the story of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. This one will be told strictly from Christian’s point of view, US Weekly reports.
And fans will not have to wait very long to get their hands on the new book. Along with posting a picture of the cover of the book on Instagram — which features a close-up of his eye and the simple title Grey — James followed with the news that the book will be available in just a couple of weeks.
“Hello all. For those of you who have asked, Christian’s POV of #FSOG is published on 18th June for his birthday. It’s called GREY… I hope you enjoy it. #FiftyShades #Grey.”
James went on to say that she was inspired to write the fourth book in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise by fans who repeatedly asked for more Ana and Christian. Further, they really wanted to learn more about Christian.
“This book is dedicated to those readers who asked…and asked… and asked… and asked for this,” James said in a statement.
“Christian is a complex character and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story. It’s been a great pleasure to return to my happy place-writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe.”
Fans of the franchise can read the latest book while they wait for the second film in the series Fifty Shades Darker . The first movie, starring Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey, made more than $500 million worldwide, but the second film has been full of drama, pushing the release date back multiple times.
First the director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, dropped out, reportedly over creative differences with James. Then the screenwriter, Kelly Marcel, jumped the Fifty Shades ship too.
There have been rumors that James is planning on stepping in to direct Darker , while it has been confirmed that Naill Leonard, James’ husband will write the screenplay.
Casting rumors also abound. Fans of the books know that quote a few pivotal characters first appear in book 2. Charlize Theron is rumored to be in the running for the role of Elena Lincoln, the woman who introduced Christian Grey to the BDSM lifestyle. And Henry Cavill a.k.a Superman , is reportedly wanted for the role of Jack Hyde.
