Miley Cyrus Twerks, Grinds Robin Thicke On Stage At VMAs

Miley Cyrus was anything but modest at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The 20-year-old singer twerked on stage during a performance of her song “We Can’t Stop,” then turned it up a notch when Robin Thicke went onstage. Performing his hit song “Blurred Lines,” Thicke was joined by a gyrating Miley who wore nothing but a bra and nude underwear.

The raunchy performance shocked the audience and brought a quick reaction on Twitter.

Country singer Josh Gracin was one of those who criticized Miley, tweeting : “Thanks Miley Cyrus. Now I have to explain to my 11 yr old daughter why she no longer can follow your career.”

Others took a more personal attack, knocking Miley for her lack of clothing and strange hairstyle. Buzzfeed noted that her part-shaved and part-spikey hair looked a lot like Angelica’s doll Cynthia from the Nickelodeon show Rugrats.

Miley also got into some trouble during her own performance. MTV bleeped out the word “Molly” from the chorus of her song “We Can’t Stop,” a lyric many believe is a drug reference.

In the song Miley sings, “So la da di da di/We like to party/Dancing with Molly,” with Molly a street term for ecstasy.

The performance comes just a few weeks after Miley Cyrus attacked reports that she’s only concerned with partying.

“People have this misconception of me that I’m just one of these kids on TV and that now I go off and party and I’m just this ratchet white girl , and I’m not,” she told Notion magazine. “I work really, really hard, I’m just in a different environment.”

Miley seemed particularly upset with how her entire personal life has become tabloid fodder.

“All I did was get a haircut and buy some clothes and everyone thinks that I am made into a robot that changes with what’s popular every 10 years,” she explained.

If that’s the case, then Miley Cyrus would definitely be upset by the things people are saying about her VMA performance.
