Should we elect Miley Cyrus president in 2016? Hear me out for a second. In a single performance lasting less than 10 minutes and televised worldwide, she managed to do something not a single elected official has been able to pull off in well over a decade…
… bipartisanship.
Pretty much everyone, liberal or conservative, stands in agreement that what Cyrus did Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards was inappropriate, offensive, and absolutely eyeball-melting.
The usual suspects, like the Parents Television Council, slammed the performance and MTV for “marketing sexually charged messages to young children using former child stars.”
Paul Porter, another PTC member, said “The Miley Cyrus/Robin Thicke performance simply substituted talent with sex. … Heads should roll at MTV.”
But it was amazing how many liberal media personalities also came out swinging at MTV and Miley Cyrus . Normally these folks defend artistic expression and have little regard for the conservative “prudes” who lambaste sexually provocative behavior.
But they hated it too! Hollywood types all over thought Miley Cyrus’ MTV VMAs performance was just too excessive.
I’m so uncomfortable.

Watching VMAs. Haven’t been in a strip club in a while, but good to see nothing has changed

I will always have this version of Miley. Let’s live in the past and heal. pic.twitter.com/zMsEW2PvfO

Remind me to never let my kids into showbiz… Thanks

Really, the only people supporting Miley Cyrus are her own parents, Billy Ray and Tish. The former tweeted vague “I’m so proud” messages after the performance, while the latter stood and excitedly gave her daughter a standing ovation when it was all over.
Oh, and for what it’s worth, Robin Thicke’s mother hated Miley’s performance. “I was not expecting her to be putting her butt that close to my son,” she told Yahoo . “It’s not that I saw it once, it’s that I can never un-see it,” she said.
