Microsoft Retail stores have been popping up all over the globe, and five more locations are on the way. Microsoft on Tuesday announced plans to open five new stores in the US by Summer 2013.
While the tech firm has not given exact release dates, it has promised to launch the new stores by the summer.
The new Microsoft Retail stores will be placed in the following cities:
- Natick Mall, Natick, Massachusetts
- Ala Moana Center, Honolulu, Hawaii
- Pioneer Place, Portland, Oregon
- The Somerset Collection, Troy, Michigan
- Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg, Illinois
Microsoft recently announced six new stores in San Antonio, Miami, Beachwood, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, and St. Louis.
With Microsoft already operating 29 stores in North America, its new launches will provide for a total of 40 retail locations.
Back in 2011, Microsoft said it would launch 75 stores in a two- to three-year period.
In announcing the new Microsoft Retail stores, the company wrote:
“Our customers continue to tell us that they value our stores for connecting them to the best of Microsoft. This delights us to no end. From the newest touchscreen laptops, desktops, and tablets running Windows 8, to Windows Phones, to Xbox and Kinect consoles and accessories, to a wide array of first and third-party software titles, our goal is to introduce you to the best choice, value and service we have to offer.”
With Apple maintaining decent sales momentum in the retail space, Microsoft still has a way to go. Announcing 11 new stores in a one-month period shows the company’s focus on a more aggressive retail focus.
