Michelle Rodriguez has been public and outspoken about her bisexuality for a couple of years now, so it should come as no surprise that Ms. Rodriguez had a boldly honest reaction to news that her own ex-girlfriend Cara Delevingne has a new girlfriend. In fact, Michelle revealed that she feels proud of Cara for opening up so publicly about her relationship with St. Vincent.

In a recent Vogue cover story, Delevingne confessed to being in love with her new girlfriend Annie Clark, more widely known under the name of St. Vincent.

“Oh that’s so sexy, you go girl!” Ms. Rodriguez told E! News . “Work it out, I think that’s hot!”

Michelle said that she understands how much courage it took for Cara to make the decision to state her feelings so publicly in a society that has become so judgmental. Rodriguez also expressed a desire to see a society where everyone can be honest about themselves without fears of repercussions forcing anyone into hiding.

“I think everybody should be open about everything in their lives, but at the end of the day the world isn’t that black and white,” Michelle said. “You’ve got some people who, if they really did say what they do for a living, they’d lose their job. And that’s the real world. The real world is that with the truth comes judgment. And with judgment comes opinion and with opinion comes stupidity, ignorance and all these other things that can really mess up your life.”

“What you do behind closed doors should never affect your work,” Michelle said, echoing the sentiments felt by many people.

Rodriguez’s ex, Cara Delevingne, has never publicly defined her sexual orientation, though she has openly expressed her feelings about her relationship with St. Vincent.

“I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days,” Cara says. “And for those words to come out of my mouth is actually a miracle. It took me a long time to accept the idea, until I first fell in love with a girl at 20 and recognized that I had to accept it.”

“For her to come out, god bless, I think that’s beautiful,” Rodriguez said , responding to Delevingne’s remarks regarding her feelings for her new girlfriend.

“I have tons of friends who are in the closet, and you know what? Respect. Because you can’t control how people are. You’ve got haters out there,” Michelle added. “There are too many variables to really judge somebody on their sexual preference. It’s just ignorant.”

Michelle Rodriguez was last seen in the record-breaking Furious 7 , which included a heartfelt tribute to late co-star Paul Walker.
