Michael Fassbender is on fire these days, and now he admits to GQ magazine, that he has a girlfriend to see him through all of his success. The actor opens up to GQ about his fairly new relationship with Shame costar Nicole Beharie, after months of speculation that there was a love connection between the two stars.
However, don’t expect Fassbender to agree with the rumors that they were more than coworkers while filming. The actor doesn’t mince words about how his relationship with Beharie started. “Nothing happened while we were filming,” said Fassbender for GQ’s July issue.
The 35 year-old goes on to explain the details surrounding the beginnings of their relationship saying, “We started talking more on the promotion thing. So, yeah, it just sort of unfolded like that.”
Nicole Beharie, 27, lives in New York, which makes this relationship a long distance one, which Michael Fassbender admits isn’t the easiest thing to attain in the industry stating, “I’m seeing Nicole, we’re trying to see each other as often as possible. That’s kind of difficult when she lives [in New York] and I live in England.” In the past Fassbender has been linked to Zoë Kravitz and Leasi Andrews.
Earlier in the year Fassbender was snubbed by the Academy for the NC-17 film Shame , where he played a sex addict. Fassbender admits to GQ that the whole ordeal was “very upsetting” saying, “At the beginning people [say], ‘You’re going to be going to the Oscars,’ and you’re like, ‘Whatever, doesn’t matter, don’t think so. But after a while it does penetrate. After a while you’re like, ‘Anyway, so I’m going to the Oscars…’ And you start to believe it. And I did. I thought I was going. And then I found out I wasn’t and I was upset. I was very upset by it.
As for his future the actor is reportedly slated to star alongside Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in The Counselor , in which he’ll play the title role of a lawyer.
