Meredith Kercher Family: Amanda Knox Should Be Extradited

Meredith Kercher’s family says Amanda knox should be extradited to Italy if the laws allow for it.

In a related report by The Inquisitr , after being found guilty in a retail , Knox has already made it quite clear she’ll oppose extradition attempts :

“I’m definitely not going back to Italy willingly. They’ll have to catch me and pull me back kicking and screaming into a prison that I don’t deserve to be in. I will fight for my innocence.”

After hearing the verdict, the brother of Meredith Kercher, named Lyle, said he believed extradition should be an option “if someone has been found guilty and convicted of a murder, and if an extradition law exists between those two countries.” But Stephanie Kercher seemed to think there may be more to the story:

“I think we are still on a journey for the truth and it may be the fact that we don’t ever really know what happened that night, which is obviously something we’ll have to come to terms with. We hope that we are nearer the end so that we can just start to remember Meredith for who she was and draw a line under it, as it were.”

Rudy Guede was convicted of Miss Kercher’s murder in 2008, and sentenced to 16 years in prison. But it was believed at the time that a sex game involving several others is what led to the murder of Meredith Kercher after they argued over personal hygiene. Knox and Sollecito were jailed temporarily in 2009 but the verdicts were overturned in 2011.

Amanda Knox’s ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito , was discovered near Austria’s border with a new girlfriend and is now stuck in Italy. Knox says, “I don’t know what I would do if they imprisoned him. It’s maddening.”

Like Knox, Sollecito was also found guilty of murder and he’s been handed down a verdict which includes 25 years in prison. Although the court noted there is a “real and actual the danger that Sollecito could escape Italian justice” he’s still being allowed to travel but denied access to his passport. Police are considering whether to keep him under protective custody but his lawyers claim he never considered fleeing and gave up travel documents voluntarily.

Despite Italy declaring them both guilty of murdering Meredith Kercher, legal experts believe the possibility of extradition won’t be raised until the Court of Cassation has confirmed the verdict. The case may also turn political since the United States would have to determine whether Amanda Knox would fall under their extradition treaty.
