Mark Wahlberg Slams Tom Cruise For Comparing Acting With Military

Mark Wahlberg , who plays a Navy SEAL in the upcoming film Lone Survivor (based on a true story), slammed Tom Cruise for allegedly saying that acting is comparable to serving in the military.

Recent comments made by the Mission: Impossible star during a court deposition raised more than one eyebrow when they became public.

The website TMZ obtained court documents in the case of Cruise against Bauer publishing , as reported by The Inquisitr .

Cruise denies allegations, posted in Life & Style , that he had abandoned daughter Suri, who is his child with Katie Holmes.

Mark Wahlberg doesn’t agree with the controversial comments by the action movie star, especially the ones comparing acting with serving in Afghanistan.

Cruise allegedly said:

“That’s what it feels like. And certainly on this last movie, it was brutal. It was brutal.”

Many of those serving in the military took serious issue with the Tom Cruise’s comments, which seem to be out of touch with the true sacrifices the troops make when serving on the front lines.

Mark Wahlberg, who plays a Navy SEAL in the failed 2005 mission “Operation Red Wings” in which his unit was tasked with capturing Taliban leader Ahmad Shahd, had some heated words for Tom Cruise during a Q&A for the movie premiere in Los Angeles.

“For actors to sit there and talk about ‘Oh I went to SEAL training,’ and I slept on the — I don’t give a f*** what you did. You don’t do what these guys did. For somebody to sit there and say my job was as difficult as somebody in the military’s. How f***ing dare you. While you sit in a makeup chair for two hours.

I don’t give a sh** if you get your a** busted. You get to go home at the end of the day. You get to go to your hotel room. You get to order f***ing chicken. Or your steak. Whatever the f*** it is.”

As anyone who follows movies closely knows, the life of actors is far from glamorous, often taking them away from loved ones for long periods of time, but it can hardly compare with risking your life day in and day out like our troops do.

The Wrap summed up Mark Wahlberg’s rant like this:

“Wahlberg never specifically referenced Cruise, but he did make it very clear that no matter how long the hours or difficult the conditions, film making and soldiering don’t belong in the same conversation.”

Cruise tried to clarify his comments saying, “Oh come on, you know we’re making a movie.”

His lawyer claims his client’s comments were taken out of context:

“The assertions that Tom Cruise likened making a movie to being at war in Afghanistan is a gross distortion of the record. What Tom said, laughingly, was that sometimes, ‘That’s what it feels like.’ Tom is a staunch supporter of our troops and would never say that making a movie was even remotely comparable to fighting in Afghanistan.”

Tom Cruise rendered a compelling performance when he played Ron Kovic, a paralyzed Vietnam Veteran, in the 1989 biopic Born On The Fourth Of July .
