Recently, Nick Cannon came forward with a shocking revelation about his feelings for ex-wife Mariah Carey. In an episode of The Meredith Vieira Show , he openly confessed that despite their divorce, the singer is still “ the love of his life. ”
“I’m a hopeless romantic too,” Cannon told Vieira.
“Through this learning process, you never say never. To me one thing I know, that will always be the love of my life, always be my family and that’s never going to change.”
While many swooned over Cannon’s heart wrenching statements, his former wife doesn’t seem moved. Sources explain that this is because Carey is already “out of Cannon’s game.” According to them, “She liked Nick, but there’s no chance of a romantic reconciliation.”
This doesn’t mean that the diva is already back on the market, though. Sources claim that Carey is not looking into dating right now.
“Mariah has a residency in Vegas that’s just weeks away. She’s also into raising the twins. When she’s not working she goes to Eleuthera, her private island in the Bahamas.”
In addition to Carey’s unmoved reaction, there are also others who are not convinced with Cannon’s romantic admission. They claim that his moving gesture is merely a ploy to keep his hands in the singer’s generous wallet.
According to a source close to the couple, Carey’s ex-husband has been having trouble making ends meet since their divorce.
“He’s behaving like he still has access to his ex’s bank account but his own paychecks are nowhere near high enough to sustain his expensive habits.”
This claim is backed up by financial experts who have observed the financial habits of celebrities. Todd Schoenberger, a managing partner at New York’s Land Colt Capital explained, “Most of the money celebrities make goes to their lawyers, because they’re the ones who are brokering the deals and securing their clients’ works in addition to protecting their name and brand.” He also added that many Hollywood celebrities are, in fact, just living from paycheck to paycheck.
Cannon, aware of the many allegations directed towards him, expressed his disappointment about the negative rumors. During the interview with Vieira, he said, “It’s extremely disappointing when you see that people just want to perpetuate negativity when there is no negativity even involved.”
