Now that Mariah Carey is single again, she has sought out the help of one of her old friends, Nas, to help her find a new man.
Carey separated from her husband of six years, Nick Cannon , back in August, and while he has been off gallivanting with Amber Rose since their split, the infamous singer has taken her time try to deal with the disintegration of their relationship.
But after two months of pondering, Carey has decided it is now time to get back into the dating game, and according to a Us Weekly source, the 44-year-old texted her pal to help her out.
“[Carey] texted Nas, wondering if he had any friends she could go out with – or ever just hook up with. But Nas is nervous to introduce her to anyone.”
Nas and Carey have reportedly been good friends for a number of years. In fact, the rapper even worked on a song with her, entitled, “Dedicated,” which was the third track on her 2014 album, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse . Unfortunately, that didn’t stop the album from experiencing poor sales, even though it was met with some positive reaction upon its initial release.
While she was married to Cannon , there had been rumors that Carey and Nas had embarked on an affair together. However, Cannon was able to dismiss these suggestions during an interview with Howard Stern back in 2013.
“[Nas is] a friend of mine, he’s a friend of hers. She went to his birthday party, and I think it was in L.A. We actually talked about this before. It’d be very difficult to make me jealous.”
Cannon has allegedly taken to being single like a duck to water. Not only has he previously spent plenty of time with Amber Rose, he is believed to have been spotted with an unidentified blonde at a swanky Beverly Hills club just a couple of weeks ago.
Us Weekly insiders have declared that he was in the establishment with Randy Jackson, and they dined with the woman before the former American Idol judge then left. Cannon and his female companion, meanwhile, “kept chatting and laughing. Nick had a big smile on his face.”
Cannon and Carey dated for only six weeks before they decided to tie the knot on a private island in the Bahamas on April 8, 2008.
