Manchester City’s Samir Nasri Joins Carlos Tevez In Driving Ban

Manchester City’s footballers have a serious driving issue, as Samir Nasri has now joined teammate Carlos Tevez in receiving a six-month driving ban . The attacking midfielder received the ban after being caught on camera speeding on three separate occasions in 2011.

Nasri failed to admit he was behind the wheel of his Mercedes in each incident, which led to his driving ban and a €2,100 fine. Nasri will also lose 18 points on his license, according to Jamie Sanderson of Metro .

The Daily Mail reports that Nasri was caught speeding at 70 mph in a 40 mph zone in September 2011, going 39 in a 30 zone in October 2011, and finally going 38 in a 30 zone in December 2011.

The second and third driving offenses are a regularity no matter where you are in the world, but speeding upwards of 30 mph over the limit is pushing it. Three offenses in four months is another issue, but Nasri seems to have learned his lesson, as the 25-year-old hasn’t been caught speeding in over two years.

Nevertheless, Nasri will serve a six-month driving ban and take a hit of about $2,700. Nasri played 71 minutes and added a clever assist to David Silva’s goal in Manchester City’s last match, a 4-0 win over Newcastle.

The French midfielder has three goals and six assists in 28 appearances for the Citizens this season. Nasri has played in 20 Premier League fixtures and eight matches in the F.A. Cup.

He was named Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Year during the 2006-07 season with Marseille and French Player of the Year in 2010 with Arsenal .

Nasri joined City in August 2011 after a transfer from Arsenal was completed, just one month before the beginning of Nasri’s speeding escapades began. The multiple speeding incidents haven’t seemed to affect his play, as City went on to win the Premier League in 2011-2012 for the third time in the clubs history and it’s first since 1967-68.

The Citizens are 15 points out of first this season, behind rival Manchester United, who they next play on April 8. The Red Devils have practically secured the title this year, but the Citizens are sure to put a fight at Old Trafford in four days. Samir Nasri will suit up and join his teammates on the pitch after receiving a six-month ban on Thursday.
