Madonna’s songs from her unfinished album, Rebel Heart , seem to be under attack again, only days after the singer/songwriter felt compelled to release six songs from her upcoming album due to the previous leaks. Tuesday evening, 4 more tracks from Madonna’s album have appeared online. Madonna was understandably upset by the leaking of the first 13 Rebel Heart songs, declaring that the unfinished works had not been ready for public scrutiny and, in a controversial statement, Madonna compared the theft to terrorism. In the tweet, made on her official account, Madonna used the term ‘artistic rape’ to describe the thefts and, when fans responded negatively to her choice of words, the tweet was deleted, according to the New York Times .
Ultimately, Madonna released polished versions of six of the songs, currently available for purchase on iTunes, issuing a statement that the entire album would be available on March 10.
“I was hoping to release my new single ‘Living for Love’ on Valentine’s Day with the rest of the album coming in the spring… I would prefer my fans to hear completed versions of some of the songs instead of the incomplete tracks that are circulating. Please consider these six songs as an early Christmas gift.”
Among this newest collection of leaked Madonna songs, a collaboration with artist Pharrell, titled “Back That Up (Do It)” was targeted, as well as songs titled “Veni Vidi Vici,” “Beautiful Scars,” “Iconic,” “God Is Love,” and “Tragic Girl.”
Although Madonna has not yet commented on this latest violation, she was quite outspoken about her feelings concerning the leaking of the first 13 songs, reports Daily Mail .
“Obviously there is a person, or a group of people behind this that were essentially terrorising me… I don’t want to sound alarming, but certainly that’s how I felt. It’s one thing if someone comes into your house and steals a painting off your wall: that’s also a violation, but, your work, as an artist, that’s devastating. I’m an artistic person, I’m very expressive. I’m sorry if words alarm people, but that’s what it felt like. It was not a consensual agreement. I did not say ‘hey, here’s my music, and it’s finished.’ It was theft.”
Madonna has been working with Diplo, Avicii, Natalia Kills, Alicia Keyes, and Kanye West on the Rebel Heart album. The follow-up to her twelfth studio album MDNA, which was the first Madonna album to not be associated with Warner Bros. Records, will be released by Interscope Records, a division of Universal Music Group. Madonna rose to fame with the debut releases of “Everybody” and “Burning Up” from her first album, simply titled Madonna , which rose on the charts and became instant club hits. Her follow-up album, Like A Virgin , cemented Madonna’s success, earning her the title of Queen of Pop. Now on her thirteenth album, Madonna has proven herself to be versatile enough to stay on top of current trends, reinventing herself with each successive album.
Recent reviews of the six tracks officially released by Madonna have proven that, regardless of what injustices may befall her work, she still reigns as the Queen of Pop .
