Despite their ugly custody battle, Madonna and Guy Ritchie are certainly on better terms. The two have been at it since their divorce in 2008, but things have recently improved. The Mirror has the news .
“After months of wrangling with ex-wife Madonna over son Rocco, Guy Ritchie smiles as he enjoys the perfect Father’s Day gift, a weekend with his kids…Rocco, 15, helped him with the cases as adopted son David Banda, 10, larked around with Guy ‘s three youngsters with second wife, model Jacqui Ainsley – Rafael, four, Rivka, three, and Levi, two.”
The Mirror adds that even Lourdes, Madonna’s daughter from Carlos Leon, even tagged along. It’s obvious that trust has been developed and the family is back together. Still, the Mirror claims that a final custody deal hasn’t been reached.
“Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s latest custody hearing has been delayed – as it’s thought both sides are nearing a deal at last. ‘The Material Girl’ singer and her ex-husband were due to appear before a judge today in New York, as they battle for custody of their son Rocco, 15. But hours before the hearing was due to take place it was adjourned.”
The article adds that the reason it has been delayed is because of continued negotiations. The custody battle started out last December, when Rocco ran away from Madonna’s tour to be with his father. New York Daily News broke the story.
“Madonna’s teenage son no longer wants to live in a material world. Rocco Ritchie, the 15-year-old son of the pop diva and film director Guy Ritchie, says he wants to stay with his dad in London, not his mom in New York. But he must return from London — where he’s been visiting Ritchie — thanks to an order Wednesday from a Manhattan Supreme Court judge.”
Under distress, Madonna tried to reach out to Rocco through posting things on Instagram and making dedications to him in concert.
Right before the mother and son united, it was speculated that Rocco called himself a “son of a bi**h” on Instagram. The Telegraph broke the news.
“Rocco Ritchie, Madonna’s son who is at the centre of a bitter custody battle, has reportedly described himself as being the ‘son of a b-tch.’ In a move that could be seen as a swipe at his pop star mother, an Instagram account believed to have been set up by the 15-year-old had the comment in a biographical description next to a picture of the teenager,” claimed columnist Danny Boyle.
However, as Metro pointed out, the account was a fake one. Columnist Hanna Flint noted that after her follow request was accepted from the account, she soon discovered it was owned by another guy who may be British, but doesn’t actually seem to have any connection to Rocco. Still, the rest of the media didn’t do proper research and Twitter reacted like it was the truth.
Since reuniting with Rocco, Madonna has been both praised and bashed for recent live performances. Even though her tribute to Prince earned great reviews from many media sources, she was viciously bashed on Twitter. However, her performance of her first top-10 hit “Borderline” on The Tonight Show earned her unanimous raves.
