Machete Kills new trailer shows Amber Heard’s Miss San Antonio showing Machete (Danny Trejo) a gigantic wall filled with weapons.
The assassin beauty queen tells the titular ex-Federale that her Miss America “gig” keeps her “close to the border, and the designer duds ain’t bad either.” Machete asks, “What happened to world peace,” and she shows off some heavy weaponry, including a custom Carbine long-range “fast enough to nuke a jackrabbit on roller skates” and a Swiss army knife machete that is a literal triple threat.
The sequel to Robert Rodriguez’s action exploitation film finds Machete being recruited by the President of the United States (Charlie Sheen, using his birth name Carlos Estevez) to stop an arms dealer (Mel Gibson) and a revolutionary (Demian Bicher). Jessica Alba, Tom Savini, and Michelle Rodriguez reprise their roles from the first film.
Newcomers include Lady Gaga in her acting debut , Sofia Vergara, Antonia Banderas, Zoe Saldana, and Edward James Olmos.
Robert Rodriguez said that the sequel keeps the craziness of the original .
“We’re definitely doing Machete as a James Bond film. It’s really big, and there are a lot of characters, a lot of great actors, and the fun factor is really dialed up,” he said. “People would tell me what they liked about Machete is how much fun it was. They were surprised at how fun it was. So we really wanted to play that up. It’s a grand adventure.”
Originally scheduled for September 13 , Open Road initially pushed back Machete Kills to October 4 to avoid competition with Insidious: Chapter 2 . The film earned $41 million in its opening weekend for the second best September debut. Open Road pushed the film back another week to October 11 to avoid competition with Gravity .
