LMFAO is not breaking up, party rocking group member Redfoo says, but they will be taking a hiatus to pursue solo projects.
Redfoo says he and Sky Blu — who happens to be his nephew — are splitting up for a while to go after their own projects, The Associated Press reported.
“I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years. And we’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time,” said the 37-year-old Redfoo.
Redfoo might have more than music in his future. He’s also taken an interest to sports, showing up at the U.S. Open to watch friend Victoria Asarenka take on Serena Williams. He’s also performed some dates with the women’s gymnastics Fierce Five team, and also is a tennis coach in Las Vegas for a junior player.
Redfoo says in his time off from LMFAO, he plans to open his own line of tennis clothing. He’ll also be sponsoring the United States Tennis Association’s Party Rock Open in Las Vegas starting Sunday.
He’s even working on a song for the New England Patriots.
“I’m actually working on a song for them, because they asked me to write a song for their season,” he said of the Kraft family, the team’s owners.
As for LMFAO , Redfoo says they’re bound to get back together. After all, they’re family.
“I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we’re always family,” he said. “He’ll always be my nephew, I’ll always be his uncle.”
Fans of the group’s music won’t be missing much during the hiatus, NBCNews.com reported . Redfoo hinted that his solo work will be in the same club rocking style as LMFAO.
