The Liz & Dick movie which aired on Lifetime didn’t fare too well with critics. Unfortunately for Lindsay Lohan, Twitter users weren’t much nicer about the made-for-television biopic.
According to TV Guide , a number of celebrities shared their opinions about the critically panned Lifetime drama. Needless to say, none of them were too friendly when it came to the movie, the performances, and the legacy of Elizabeth Taylor.
Chelsea Lately writer and stand-up comedienne Sarah Colonna offered up one of the evening’s more interesting reactions to the film.
“If you missed #LizandDick, just watch ‘Showgirls’ backwards,” she wrote. For those who actually enjoyed Paul Verhoeven’s Showgirls , this could be misconstrued as a compliment.
Kathy Griffin, D-list celebrity, actress, and stand-up comedienne, was quick to pull some drama out of Lohan’s past for her snarky comment regarding Lifetime’s Liz & Dick .
“Lindsay/Liz jewelry store scene = awkward,” Griffin wrote.
“I’ve an unhealthy level of excitement for #lizanddick. Treating w/the reverence usually reserved for an old-school 70’s ‘television event,’ ” jokes actress and former Saturday Night Live cast member Rachel Dratch.
According to The Huffington Post , television producer and Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead was also quick to have some fun at Lohan’s expense.
“Gilbert Godfried sound more like Liz Taylor,” she wrote.
Not surprisingly, the harsh criticisms and negative reviews regarding Lindsay Lohan’s performance in Liz & Dick have taken their toll on the actress. Since nobody in their right mind enjoys being filleted by critics, sources claim Lohan is taking this stuff pretty hard.
“Lindsay is devastated by the response to the film,” a close friend explained to The Huffington Post . “She has got used to all the negative press around her personal life but this is the first time she has experienced it about her work. No matter how bad things were going for her personally, everyone would always agree that she was a great actress.”
Were you a fan of the Liz & Dick movie? Do you think the negative reviews were justified?
