Matt and Amy Roloff’s youngest son finally opened up about why he really left Little People, Big World two years ago. In a video blog, Jacob expressed his thoughts about growing up in front of the media and why he chose to put that life behind. At one point, he also admitted to being rebellious against his family by leaving the show and even their religion.
Jacob, 20, poured out his thoughts through his YouTube channel Rock and Roloff , where he posts videos of his travels with girlfriend Izzy. He is currently taking a road trip which he previously described as a journey to self-discovery. Based on Jacob’s photos on social media, he has since been to amazing places such as Yellowstone, Multnomah Falls in Oregon, and Rocky Mountain National Park.
Jacob Roloff Grows Up
In the channel’s latest episode which Jacob posted just this week, he featured his recent trip to Utah. Among the places they visited were Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.
The video’s tone turned a little serious halfway through, in the scene where Jacob was driving. He started talking to his girlfriend Izzy about how people have a fixed image of him because he has such an online presence. Fans have seen Jacob on Little People, Big World since he was 9-years-old and now that he’s 20, some are surprised to see that he’s not the same young boy anymore.
“People reference things that I said, like, two years ago—even more than two years ago… And I remember at that time, I was very inflammatory. I said inflammatory things.”
He explained that he knew that he will regret some of the things he said against his family but insisted that he was merely expressing his feelings as they happened. He said that as a teenager, he was “working out” those emotions by speaking out.
However, Jacob said that he has now changed so much since leaving the show at 18. By distancing himself from the cameras, he has found his identity. He also stated that he has gained more wisdom now that he has learned to think more instead of speaking more.
“I rebelled and I left the show and I left the religion I was brought up with…and I left it in a pretty flamboyant way or whatever. Now, I’m kind of like, okay, I don’t need to hate it. So essentially, all there is to say is that I just grew up.”
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Jacob has been dubbed as the black sheep of the Roloff family . He has slammed his family’s reality show in the past, saying that it was staged and fake.
Now, Jacob is back in front of the camera again. But this time, he’s in control. His YouTube channel, he says, is a way for fans to get to know him more intimately than a network-produced reality show. He films the scenes and edits the content himself. Currently, Rock and Roloff has more than 4,000 subscribers.
Jacob Returns Home
This week, Jacob decided to take a break from his traveling to go home and meet his new nephew, Zach and Tori’s son. He posted a picture of the sweet moment and gushed about baby Jackson .
“Love being an uncle so far. Love Little Man.”
With Jacob’s new realizations and recent homecoming, many fans are asking whether they will see Jacob once again in the coming episodes of Little People, Big World. But the Roloff family has neither confirmed nor denied his return to the show.
However, Jacob will surely spend more time with the LPBW family in the coming months, as they are about to celebrate huge milestones. In September, the Roloffs will welcome another baby, Jeremy and Audrey’s first child. And in August, Jacob’s sister Molly will be getting married.
Little People, Big World airs every Tuesday on TLC.
