Lil Wayne Won’t Drop ‘Tha Carter V’ On May 5, Release Date Pushed Back

Lil Wayne fans will have to wait a while longer for his latest album to hit store shelves.

Although the rapper originally planned to drop his long-awaited record Tha Carter V on the masses this May, apparently that’s no longer the case. According to the folks over at MTV News , that date was recently pushed aside . Unfortunately, no one seems to know when it will finally arrive.

The Inquisitr previously reported that Drake revealed the release date for the Lil Wayne album during a concert back in February. When the Canadian rapper told the world that Tha Carter V would hit shelves on May 5 , many folks started saving their pennies. Sadly, it seems a few changes are taking place behind the scenes.

Complex explains that news of the release date change arrive courtesy of Lil Wayne’s manager Cortez Bryant. When asked if the new album would arrive on May 5 as planned, Bryant revealed that date was no longer accurate .

“You know I push dates back and s***, so I’m not going to release that date until I really know when it really is,” Bryant explained before saying people should pay attention “next week.” He also added that the record is nothing short of amazing.

Of course, that last tidbit of info will only make people shake their fists in anger. When folks hear that something is incredible, they want to experience it as soon as humanly possible. For the moment, it’s truly anyone’s guess when the next Lil Wayne album will become available to the masses.

There’s always the possibly that Weezy and company could ]pull a Beyoncé on the world by springing Tha Carter V on fans without notice. Kid Cudi did it earlier this year with Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon , an album that had no trouble traveling pretty high on the Billboard 200 chart. It’s worth nothing that this is nothing more than speculation on the part of this entertainment writer.

One thing’s definitely for certain: Lil Wayne is extremely excited about the record. During a chat with MTV News , the rapper revealed that the new songs were “coming together dope.” He also told fans to expect something a little different this time around.

“I say it’s different, because I’m older and wiser, and I know more things and I know more about myself now. I’m more careful about what I’m doing and trying to be more careful what I’m saying,” he explained.

Weezy added, “I knew that I had people above me or around me that was gonna make sure whatever I said or shouldn’t have said or whatever I did or shouldn’t have did. Well now, I’m those people, and I’m telling me what I should do and what I shouldn’t say.”
