Girls mastermind Lena Dunham recently shared the sex advice she received at the tender age of 19 with her followers on Instagram.
The writer and actress was once very concerned about coming out of her teenage years as a virgin. In an effort to get some friendly advice on the matter, she reached out to TimeOut New York’s sex columnist Jamie Bufalino.
After dropping a Judy Blume reference and revealing that she has a “reasonable amount of sexual experience,” Lena Dunham got down to business. The actress seemed most concerned about how guys might react to her virginity. Dunham also wanted to know how to break the news to her lover.
Bufalino seemed impressed that the Girls star would use terms such as “v-card” and “six ways to Sunday” in her letter to the column. The writer’s advice was simple: Don’t stress about being a virgin and wait until she finds the right guy.
“You will simply live your Intermix-clad, iPod-accessorized, O.C.-obsessed life until you meet a young man who doesn’t give a whit about your sexual status, but just wants to express his love for you through three timid thrusts and premature ejaculation,” Bufalino wrote.
She continued, “The last thing you need is some sly strategy for dropping the v-bomb on someone. All you have to do is proudly announce your status and gauge a guy’s screw-worthiness by how he reacts to the news. If he’s standoffish or pervy, then ditch the loser.”
The columnist also noted that Dunham would have plenty of time in her 20s and 30s to “sleep with total bozos.” I suppose there’s a fair amount of truth to that statement.
According to The Huffington Post, Lena Dunham shared this bit of history as part of Throwback Thursday . If you’re not sure what that means, then chances are it probably doesn’t apply to you.
