There’s little doubt that LeBron James is one of the greatest players of this generation, and he says that when it’s all said and done he believes his name will be considered as one of the greatest to ever play the game. If you’re building a Mount Rushmore of NBA greats, LeBron says somebody will have to step aside to make room for him.
According to ESPN , James conducted an interview with NBA TV in which he was asked to build his personal Mount Rushmore of the NBA’s greatest players of all time. When choosing his top four LeBron quickly went with three players who would likely make anyone’s top list; Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson. After some deliberation, James went with Oscar Roberson as his fourth selection.
King James has never been shy when discussing the legacy he wants to leave, saying that he planned to someday be included on that mountain of greatness. He said in the interview:
“I’m going to be one of the top four that’s ever played this game, for sure. And if they don’t want me to have one of those top four spots, they’d better find another spot on that mountain. Somebody’s gotta get bumped, but that’s not for me to decide. That’s for the architects.”
While still in the prime of his career, LeBron James has already made quite the case for inclusion on the elite lists of NBA all-time greats. He already boasts two back-to-back NBA championships with the Miami Heat, two NBA Finals MVP awards, four league MVP awards, and seven All-NBA first-team selections. James has been named to the NBA All-Defensive first team five times, and is on his way to a 10th NBA All-Star game appearance.
The full interview is scheduled to appear on NBA TV this Monday.
As noted in a previous report by The Inquisitr , LeBron has struggled a bit this season compared to last, with his shooting numbers down across the board, particularly from behind the arc.
LeBron bounced back on Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors, however, as he led the Heat to a 111-110 victory with a game winning 3-point shot with less than a second remaining. The victory came on the Warrior’s home court following two previous losses to Golden State in Miami.
According to NBA.com, James led all scorers with 36 points on 14-for-26 shooting, with 13 rebounds, nine assists and two steals. Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 29 points, seven assists and five rebounds in the losing effort.
