LeAnn Rimes Bullied In Grade School: Singer Talks Mean Girls And Death Threats

Country singer Leann Rimes recently revealed that she was bullied in grade school. The singer says the situation got so bad in the 6th grade that a girl brought a knife to school and tried to cut her.

In a sit down interview with Entertainment Tonight during an anti-bullying event in Los Angeles, the singer shared her scary ordeal:

“I was bullied when I was a kid — when I was in junior high. A lot of girls can get real mean during the 6th grade year.”

As you may recall Leann Rimes began her climb towards stardom at a very young age, and that success led to jealousy.

“I used to perform around Dallas and Texas where I lived a lot,” she said. “My principal would put something on the bulletin board if I was in the newspaper or something, and there was this clique of girls that did not like it.”

The posts about her success and the jealousy of the other girls led to attacks against the country singer. According to Leann Rimes:

“So, I had my locker egged, I had a girl bring a knife to school the last day of 6th grade and tried to kill me! Awesome. So, I’d say I was bullied a little.”

That bullying, according to Rimes, has never really ended. After she cheated on her first husband with current hubby Eddie Cibrian, she once again found herself in the bullying spotlight:

“I’ve been such a target I guess for misjudgment lately, and [get] a lot of anger from some people, especially through social media. Obviously we’re [celebrities] underneath a microscope and in the spotlight all the time, but it’s no reason to be able to pick apart someone the way that a lot of people do,” she revealed.

Do you think Leann Rimes’ bullying is the result of her rise to fame or because 6th grade girls just like to find an easy target?
