The Layfield Law Firm has filed a civil lawsuit against Wal-Mart. The filing claims that the big box retailer launched a set of low-cost dental offices after sealing the idea from Dr. Kianor Shah.
According to the lawsuit filings:
“Dr. Shah pitched the idea to Wal-Mart, who committed to put-into-action his clinics; however, Defendant Wal-Mart reverted back stating that it was no longer interested in having dental clinics inside their retail stores. Plaintiff alleges that Wal-Mart shared Dr. Shah’s proposition for the dental clinics with fellow Defendants Kent Reeves, former Wal-Mart VP of New Business Development, and Ken Antos, a long-term restaurant business partner. In 2012, Wal-Mart opened a Dr. Shah inspired clinic in its Moreno Valley,California store, run by Defendants Christopher Comfort, Kent Reeves and Ken Antos.”
Dr. Shad pitched the idea to Wal-Mart executives in 2008.
The case alleges civil conspiracy, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract and confidence, tortious interference with prospective economic advantage, and violation of laws, requirements, and regulations.
Dr. Shah claims that the new dental offices were opened with all of his ideas implemented right down to the type of dental chairs to be used.
Layfield Law also named Comfort Care Dental Management as a defendant in the filing.
The lawsuit asks for an undisclosed sum.
