Lana Del Rey recently scored a Grammy nomination for her tune “Young and Beautiful.”
Although director Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby didn’t exactly wow the critics, apparently folks feel a little differently about the singer’s contribution to the soundtrack. The tune “Young and Beautiful” scored a nomination in the best song written for visual media category at the 56th Grammy Awards.
According to Hitfix , Lana Del Rey will square off against award-winning singer Adele and her tune from the James Bond flick Skyfall . Since the “Rolling in the Deep” singer already won an Oscar for the song, many folks believe she’s a shoe-in for the Grammy.
Lana Del Rey World points out that the Tropico star was reportedly named in a total of five different categories. Apparently Lana Del Rey has a penchant for working with people with award-winning potential.
The website recently announced :
“Lana Del Rey is named in 5 categories of the 56th Grammy Awards, including for ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ with Paradise, ‘Best Song Written For Visual Media’ with Young & Beautiful, ‘Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media’ with The Great Gatsby (Deluxe Edition), ‘Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media’ with also The Great Gatsby (Deluxe Edition) and ‘Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical’ with Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix).”
The singer’s week keeps getting better and better. Not only did she score a Grammy nomination for “Young and Beautiful,” Lana Del Rey also dropped her 27-minute short film Tropico on the masses. What’s more, the singer finally unveiled the title for her upcoming album. In case you’re wondering, it’s called Ultraviolence .
The short film is certainly something to see, though it’s hard to describe without sounding like you’re in the throes of a drug binge. Lana Del Rey and model Shaun Ross open Tropico by portraying Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The pair dance to the singer’s tune “Body Electric” while Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, and Jesus just kind of hang around.
