Lamar Odom is being sued for more than $565,000 by the photographer whose camera equipment he destroyed.
Stefan Saad is claiming that Odom assaulted him and destroyed over $15,000 worth of camera equipment in the middle of a Hollywood street in July. The incident, which was caught on camera, shows the 33-year-old former Lakers player throwing Saad’s equipment into the street, and then putting it in his own car. The whole thing started after Saad asked Odom about allegations that he is cheating on Khloe Kardashian.
The lawsuit alleges that Odom feels he is “above the law” because he is married to the youngest Kardashian sister, and that the Kardashian family “has apparently come to believe that it is above the law, and has some exceptional privilege to disregard the rights of others.” Saad also said that Kanye West was behind Odom’s action, claiming that the rapper — who has had his own fair share of paparazzi altercations — advised Odom how to deal with photographers.
In July, the 36-year-old “Black Slaves” rapper and first-time father attacked an “especially aggressive” paparazzo at LAX, putting the man in a headlock and allegedly pushing him to the ground. The photographer flagged down police and was transported to a local hospital. The Los Angeles Police Department said that an investigation was ongoing and no determination had been made as to whether charges would be filed or not.
The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office decided not to press felony charges against West , saying that the photographer did not have a significant injury and that it was unknown if his camera was damaged. The D.A.’s office also said that West did not use a weapon in the attack and has no previous felony record. However, the Chicago native could still face misdemeanor charges pressed by the city attorney.
Stefan Saad is suing Lamar Odom for assault, trespass of property, and conversion, and is asking for over $565,000, not including punitive damages.
