Kyle Dube Gets 60-Year Sentence For Kidnapping And Murdering Nichole Cable

Kyle Dube thought that he would fake a kidnapping on a young girl that he met on Facebook, and then report that he found her, so he could be considered a hero. Unfortunately, things went terribly wrong, and 15-year-old Nichole Cable was murdered. Dube appeared in the Penobscot Judicial Center yesterday, where he was ultimately sentenced to 60 years in prison for the death of Cable. Kyle also received an additional 30 years for kidnapping, but the judge decided that the two sentences would be served concurrently, so he will spend at least 60 years in a state prison facility.

Dube set up a fake Facebook profile, and then the 22-year-old began communicating with high-school sophomore Cable. Initially, Dube had intentions of luring the girl away from her home to have sex. People who knew Kyle, told the police that he was bragging about kidnapping her, and then intending to rescue her in May, 2013, the same month Nichole went missing.

The body of young Nichole Cable was finally found after an exhausting eight day search. Her remains were discovered in the woods in Old Town, Maine. The cause of death was asphyxiation. Dube had covered up the body with sticks and leaves in a feeble attempt to keep her hidden.

Dube was found guilty due to overwhelming evidence. There was DNA that matched him on Cable’s body, the phony Facebook profile was traced back to Dube’s home, and several people also testified that he confessed to the murder. This should serve as a cautionary tale to young women that use Facebook on a regular basis, to not talk to people you don’t know.

Cable’s friends were scared enough by what happened to Nichole, that several of them actually deleted their Facebook and other social media accounts. According to a previous report by the Inquisitr, Nichole’s friends that decided to keep their Facebook accounts active, have gone through their friends list to confirm it only includes family and confirmed friends that they know well.

The trial for Kyle Dube only lasted for 10 days, and the jury deliberation was extremely short. The seven men and five women took only 45 minutes to return a guilty verdict on Wednesday afternoon. Dube did not testify in his own defense at the trial. Kyle also did not address the judge at his sentencing, nor did he offer any reason for the kidnapping and murder of the high school student. When given a chance to offer an apology to Cable’s family, Dube remained quiet as well. The only emotion that Dube showed was during the sentencing hearing, when his family members spoke on his behalf. Media reports that Dube was seen crying at that time.
