Kourtney Kardashian only uses satin pillow cases. Seems odd, but according to Kardashian, there’s a good reason: it helps keep her hair and skin healthy!
“I always sleep with a satin pillowcase and I have done it for like 20 years,” Kardashian revealed to fans in an interview with Cosmopolitan . Just like her love affair with ghee began because of her grandmother, Kourtney started using satin pillow cases because of a family member’s influence.
“Khloe’s Godmother, who passed away a long time ago, used to tell us that we should always sleep with a satin pillowcase as it’s better for your skin and hair, so I have done ever since,” Kardashian explained.
According to experts, Kourtney Kardashian is right on the money . Edward Tricomi, a top celebrity stylist at Warren-Tricomi Salons, confirms that “[t]he best thing you can do for your hair while you sleep is to use a silk pillowcase” because the smooth fabric reduces frizz, leaving just shiny, smooth hair.
Silk and satin have many of the same qualities, and “not only is the material gentle on the hair, it also retains moisture, which helps seal in shine and diminish frizz.” Cotton, on the other hand, is rougher, causing tangles as you toss and turn.

Kourtney also credits her satin pillow cases with helping her skin look so healthy. According to experts, because cotton absorbs moisture , any night creams you use will eventually seep into the sheets. But because satin doesn’t absorb moisture well, your skin will get the benefit of your nightly beauty routine.
Because her skin already is super healthy thanks to her nightly routine, Kourtney Kardashian revealed that her makeup routine only takes about five minutes, which includes time for contouring. “Even my 5-minute makeup routine includes a quick contour, just along my cheekbones and nose,” Kourtney confirmed.
Remembering that she started wearing makeup “[p]robably in the eighth grade,” Kourtney Kardashian shared that it was her father who helped her learn how to do her makeup properly. “Then, one Christmas, my dad got us all makeup lessons,” Kourtney recalled, explaining that “this girl came and did a full makeup lesson on us and video-taped it so we could watch it back and learn.”
The gift made an impression on the Kardashian sisters, and they “literally must have watched that video over and over. We were pretty young back then and I feel like that was the first time we really got into it,” Kourtney remembered.
But satin pillow cases aren’t the only beauty bargain secret Kourtney has up her sleeve. While some people use coconut oil just for cooking, Kardashian confessed that “I love using coconut oil for everything,” adding that you “can literally use it on your hair, skin, body, it does everything.”
While makeup is certainly an important part of Kourtney’s look, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star believes nothing is more important than her diet . Advising fans to start every day with a healthy breakfast, Kardashian shared that she starts every day by drinking ghee.
On her personal website, Kourtney explained that she swears by clarified butter because it “nourishes all of the tissues in the body, including the nervous system, translating into calm energy and clarity of the mind throughout the day.” Every morning, Kardashian melts the ghee on her stove before drinking it “out of a cute little ceramic white cup.”
Kourtney doesn’t eat anything else for 20 minutes , but then drinks an entire glass of water before eating a healthy breakfast of avocado pudding. It’s a routine Kourtney Kardashian relies on “every morning” before exercising, since avocado is a “great source of protein before a workout.”
