Kellie Pickler’s drummer was hurt in a crash in Louisville’s Interstate 65 that came only shortly after another crash in the opposite lane that killed six people.
Gregg Lohman, the drummer for country music star Kellie Pickler , was listed in serous but stable condition at the University of Louisville Hospital, WKRN reported.
The accident occurred Saturday morning at roughly 11:30 am in the southbound lanes of Interstate 65, just 30 minutes after a crash in the northbound lanes. As The Inquisitr reported , that crash took the lives of six people who were in an SUV. Authorities said a tractor trailer plowed into the SUV, which then caught fire.
The driver of the tractor trailer said he saw the vehicle in front of him but couldn’t come to a stop in time, leading police to question whether distracted driving may have played a role. They are now checking into the driver’s logs and giving him blood tests.
“There was a reason for that and we’re trying to figure out what the reason was,” Master Trooper Norman Chaffins told The Associated Press .
That crash played a direct role in the one that came shortly afterward involving Kellie Pickler’s drummer. Police said the multi-vehicle crash was likely the result of rubbernecking.
After news of the crash spread, Pickler released a statement on her Facebook page which read:
“Yesterday, my drummer Gregg Lohman was in a horrific car accident and is currently in ICU. Gregg is not just my drummer, he is family. I believe in miracles and the power of prayer, so it would mean the world to me, my band, and Gregg’s family if you would please keep him in your prayers. Thank y’all so much.”
Police said Kellie Pickler’s drummer suffered serious head and neck injuries in the crash. Aside from his drumming duties, the 36-year-old Gregg Lohman is also a music instructor at Tennessee State University.
