Madonna and Beyoncé may have excited audiences during the Super Bowl Halftime Show in the past, but it’s Katy Perry who absolutely crushed the millions watching the show on Sunday. Perry has garnered critical acclaim for her performance beyond what any female artist has received in the past. The New York Times describes how Katy Perry blew away the Super Bowl.
“During her 12 or so minutes on the University of Phoenix Stadium field on Sunday, she held her own, navigating a handful of her smashes and three wardrobe changes in a performance that resisted bad mood, spanning all of Ms. Perry’s modes”
The Dallas Morning News also praised Katy Perry for giving the Super Bowl audience exactly what they wanted.
“Call Katy Perry’s halftime show whatever you want; just don’t call it lackluster. The 30-year-old pop star poured everything she and Pepsi could afford into her thrill-a-minute set, including wacky, spectacular visuals and a three-song-medley from a forward-thinking hip-hop legend. Oh, and Perry grinded on Lenny Kravitz while he belted ‘I Kissed a Girl.’”
The Super Bowl audience went gaga over Katy Perry on Twitter.

The past five years have been amazing for Katy Perry and this Super Bowl Halftime performance is the icing on the cake. In 2010, she released her second album Teenage Dream and it made history by producing five number one singles. The only other artist to do so was Michael Jackson with his album Bad .
After taking a short break in 2012, Perry returned with a bang in 2013 with the album Prism . The album produced two more number one singles, “ Roar ” and “ Dark Horse .” Perry’s album crushed Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP , which was released at the same time. Perry later issued some passive aggressive shade at Lady Gaga and her cult of fans known as “Little Monsters” in Rolling Stone .
I’m not, like, a crazy ‘I’m gonna die for my fans’ type. Some people are so dramatic about it, and you’re like, ‘Honestly, you’re not the Second Coming. You’re just an entertainer!’… I’m very grateful for fans’ support, but I’m not thirsty or desperate.”
Meanwhile, Katy Perry continues to perform on her hit Prismatic World Tour . Billboard described what made Katy Perry ‘s latest concert experience so much fun.
“Compared to other pop music arena shows currently running, Perry’s Prismatic tour is the most colorful, literally and figuratively.”
Perry’s star has now entered the stratosphere of Michael Jackson and Madonna levels. What did you think of Katy Perry’s Super Bowl Halftime performance? Tell us in the comments section.
