Katherine Webb likely didn’t get the response she was expecting last week when she posted a picture of herself in a black bikini, with the model saying she was disgusted at what people had to say about her small frame.
Now, she’s ready to fight back.
Webb, the wife of NFL quarterback A.J. McCarron, said she was shocked when she saw people on social media calling her “anorexic, disgusting, you need to eat a hamburger, eat a donut, what happened, I’ve seen hotter, you look ugly… terrible comments.”
In an interview with Extra’s Mario Lopez , the former Miss Alabama said she didn’t think anything of posting the picture of herself, never thinking it would get the response it did.
“I started getting in shape and working out, and you know I posted this picture when I took digitals at my agency… the response was just disgusting,” she said.
Katherine Webb decided not to sit back about the comments, taking to Instagram to blast her critics .
“To all of you who think I need to gain weight or eat more, I eat just fine. I am 5’11 so I have a lot more places to put my calories,” she wrote. “I am tall, I eat just fine and also suffer from thyroid problems so don’t make fun of me or my body when you probably have problems of your own. I rarely react to this kind of stuff, but this really bothers me.”
Webb is no stranger to criticism. Last year she took offense when someone called her a “jersey chasing slut,” telling the critic to “take your negativity somewhere else.”
Webb said she has always had a difficult time with people who criticized her appearance.
“This is a topic that is very sensitive to me, because I had self-esteem issues growing up,” she said. “I was always the tall, awkward, lanky girl, and so it’s very important to me that people not bully each other about their appearance or their bodies.”
But now Katherine Webb is trying to turn the negativity into something positive for women, saying that everyone should be happy with who they are and how they look. She is also taking her message to a larger audience, with an appearance on Good Morning America on Monday to talk about her plight with skinny shaming.
