Kate Middleton is set to appear alongside Prince William at her first royal engagement since the birth of Princess Charlotte. As Harper’s Bazaar notes, the royal pair will visit Portsmouth on July 26, where they are scheduled to watch the America’s Cup British yacht team.
However, the Queen is apparently a little miffed with Middleton’s haphazard appearances at social engagements she is expected to attend. Although the Duchess is stepping out on occasion, she has reportedly passed on a number of royal engagements, mainly due to a preference to be with her children. Yet OK Magazine reports that Kate has also turned down some more formal royal events for those that are a touch less important in the eyes of royalty — that being Queen Elizabeth II. In addition to heading to view matches at Wimbledon, Kate has also opted for tea with Angelina and Brad over her typical Duchess duties.
A source who is quite aware of the royal goings-on shared with Life & Style in regards to the perception of Middleton by others within the royal family.
“Kate is getting a bit of a reputation for ducking out of royal duties. That’s where her nicknames ‘Duchess of Do-Little’ and ‘Lazy Katie’ come from.”
Kate’s selection of godparents outside of the royal family and her absenteeism from an event that paid homage to veterans have also apparently soured the Queen’s demeanor towards the radiant mother-of-two.
Although Kate is a busy mommy and wife, who prefers to spend time with her little ones and be selective of what events she attends, it is understandable that the Queen is a touch disgruntled with the Duchess’ conduct as well as with Kate’s spending habits, which include renovations of Anmer Hall that have totaled over $2 million. The source explained this topic further.
“[The Queen] comes from a different generation and has a sense of duty above all else. The queen is famously careful about not being flashy. She’s shocked and upset about Kate’s overspending. She expects Kate to fly the royal flag, and there will be plenty of duties to keep [Middleton] busy.”
Additionally, the Queen, as reported by Inquisitr , is not at all a fan of Kate’s wedge shoe collection either. It is an interesting fact that although Kate often wears the stylish form of elevated footwear, she has never been photographed in such a shoe style while in the company of the Queen.
It seems as though Kate is made to walk a fine line whether in wedge-heeled shoes or not.
