Kanye West Talks Wiz Khalifa In First Interview Since Twitter Beef

In his first interview since his infamous Twitter rant, Kanye West confirms that his beef with Wiz Khalifa has been “chopped” up and “squashed.”

In speaking with the Real 92.3 radio show, West talked about why he went off on Wiz, admitting that he misunderstood something Khalifa tweeted. During their exchange, Wiz referenced “KK,” which is a marijuana strain known as “Khalifa Krush.” Kanye took it to mean something else, which he explained during the interview.

“I just saw my wife’s initials and reacted. Because that’s my family. People think because my wife’s on TV, or because she’s been in an ‘SNL’ skit… It’s open season or something. No, that’s the mother of my kids, and I’m ‘Ye.”

Kanye West is, of course, married to reality TV star Kim Kardashian.

The Twitter feud began after Kanye announced that he was considering changing the name of his upcoming album from SWISH to WAVES . Khalifa expressed disappointment at the potential name change, tweeting that hip hop artist Max B is already closely associated with waves.

Kanye didn’t like Khalifa’s response, and after Wiz’s tweet referencing “KK,” Kanye responded with a 14-point, 27-tweet blast aimed at tearing down Khalifa and his family.

After his tirade against Wiz Khalifa, Yeezy was criticized for bringing Wiz’s 2-year-old son into the discussion, writing that Khalifa “let a stripper trap” him. Khalifa was formerly married to and shares his son Amber Rose, a businesswoman and Instagram model, who was previously an exotic dancer. Rose also dated Kanye.

“I know you mad every time you look at your child that this girl got you for 18 years,” Kanye tweeted.

The tweets prompted lashing tweets from Amber Rose, who made reference to some of Kanye’s alleged preferences in the bedroom.

Since the Twitter feud, Kanye has expressed his apologies and regrets at having brought Wiz and Amber’s child into the mix, promising that he will “never speak on kids again.” The rapper has since deleted many of his tweets.

During his interview with Real 92.3, Kanye said that he and Wiz were able to squash their feud after mutual friend Malik Yusef connected the two hip-hop artists. West said Yusef “got us on the phone,” adding “he’s very close to Wiz. He’s also very close to me. We chopped it up, squashed it.”

Amber Rose and Kim Kardashian also made an effort to publicly end their feud after the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star invited Rose to Kris Jenner’s house, where Kardashian and Jenner have been living. After their meeting, Kim K posted a photo of herself and Amber to Instagram, captioning it simply “tea anyone?”

What do you think of Kanye West’s admission that he may have reacted rashly in his misunderstanding of Wiz Khalifa’s tweet? Do you think Kanye was out of line in attempting to protect his wife and his family?

In the same 92.3 interview, West talked about his upcoming (and currently unnamed) album, which he calls a “gospel album with a whole lot of cursing on it.” With the album, Kanye said he hopes to “open up hearts and minds.”
