Kanye West Dragged Into Kim Kardashian Divorce: Rapper Is Deposed

Los Angeles — Kanye West has been deposed in Kim Kardashian’s ongoing divorce case against NBA player Kris Humphries.

Reasons why West has been pulled into the face-off between his girlfriend and her estranged husband will likely center on when the flamboyant rapper began a relationship with the reality star.

Allegations that West and Kardashian became intimately involved before she filed for a divorce from Humphries have circulated in the public domain for over a year .

Kardashian is expected to deny those claims at trial.

West and Kardashian went public as a couple in April 2012, but the Watch The Throne star appeared in episodes of Kim and Kourtney Take New York TV show all the way back in 2010.

Today, Kardashian’s attorney, Laura Wasser, said Kris Jenner — Kim’s mother and manager — had also been deposed.

On Wednesday, Wasser told Superior Court Judge Stephen Moloney that her client was ready to move on from her marriage, but was “handcuffed to Mr Humphries” due to his legal team’s non-readiness for trial.

Judge Maloney told both sides they would be required to return to court in mid-February, to either annul or dissolve the couple’s ill-fated 72-day marriage.

According to the Huffington Post , the Judge didn’t set any deadlines for depositions or discovery but said a trial could be scheduled as early as February 15 next year.

It’s believed the delay in the case is because Humphries and Kardashian are set on approaching their divorce from very different positions. Humphries is accusing his estranged wife of fraud.

In addition, Marshall Waller, Humphries’ attorney, maintains that he needs more time to collect documents from E! Entertainment and NBC Universal , the companies behind Kardashian’s reality shows.

For her part, Kardashian is seeking a traditional divorce based on the dual premises that the marriage was unreasonably brief and that a prenuptial agreement is already in place.

In court, Wasser said Waller’s go-slow approach was a tactic. “I don’t think his client has a fraud case,” she said. “I think there’s a fishing expedition going on here.”

Waller insists he needs all the documentation from E! Entertainment and NBC Universal before he can frame his client’s case.

“I do understand the desire to get this case moved,” Waller said. “There’s nothing in particular about this case that makes it more important than anybody else.”

The world was stunned — okay, mildly surprised — when Kardashian filed for divorce from Humphries more than a year ago. The well-endowed star cited irreconcilable differences after saying “I do’s” in an extravagant televised wedding on October 31, 2011.

Humphries subsequently filed for an annulment, claiming fraud. As yet, no evidence for that claim has been submitted to the court.

So is Humphries holding out for more money, or do you think his fraud claim holds water? Sound off below.
