Justin Bieber left two cryptic messages for the Internet on Friday ahead of his three Believe tour shows in China.
The first message, “Gonna have to let u know something big before I head to china,” was followed up by more opaqueness , “#10days.”
On the Interwebs, speculation over what the 19-year-old was referring to ranged from new music , to the possibility he has teamed up with Miley Cyrus on her album Bangerz due to drop in nine days, and some fans’ bemusement that the teen star went offline after his announcement.
But while all the above is feasible, it’s possible a first trailer for the upcoming movie-documentary Believe could be making an appearance in 10 days, based on a flurry of activity from Team Bieber this past week.
The Jon M. Chu directed film has already screened as a rough edit at the Toronto International Film Festival and is slated to open in theaters this Christmas. Believe will mix footage from Bieber’s tour, candid material and interviews with those in the singer’s inner circle.
To date, Justin’s first concert-biopic Never Say Never (2011) — also helmed by Chu — remains the highest grossing film of its type taking $98 million worldwide, and there has been speculation over whether Believe will come close to or even better that record.
Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, certainly seems to think the movie-docu stands a good chance of satisfying critics, fans, and impliedly perhaps the box office. Taking to Twitter on Saturday after watching the near-final cut with his team he teased a screenshot of Believe, writing:
Holy shit! It is better than Never Say Never!!! Wow @jonmchu @justinbieber . Had me crying and… http://t.co/dyuEFcGI0m

While some might call that big talk, it seems Braun isn’t the only one impressed by the movie.

Others invited to the Believe viewing also expressed their delight on the social networking site.
Brad Haugen, chairman of the Pencils of Promise charity initiative and Chief Marketing Officer of Braun’s entertainment company SB Projects tweeted:
“#believe. wow, @jonmchu (sic),” adding, “get ready to #believe this christmas.”
Echoing those sentiments, Scott Manson, Chief Operating Officer of SB Projects, enthused:
What @justinbieber and these two have made for you guys is so so so dope. #BELIEVE @scooterbraun @jonmchu pic.twitter.com/Hbf0sj7GSg

For his part, Chu has been posting on Twitter over the past few days updating fans on his editing progress. On Friday, he wrote:
Late night editing in the Believe Office trying to make that deadline @justinbieber and @scooterbraun !! http://t.co/Qy3kPSmxkE
— Jon M. Chu (@jonmchu) September 27, 2013
Yesterday, the G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Step Up 2 and 3D director followed that with a note about the lack of romance in his life due to working on the highly anticipated documentary, quipping:
Saturday night in the edit room… This is why I’m single…. Thanks @justinbieber and @scooterbraun ? #Believeinnosleep

Meanwhile, in the rest of the Bieberverse, the heartthrob recently sat down with Zach Galifianakis in a hilarious yet intense Between Two Ferns faux-interview that addressed some of the lowlights of the pop prince’s headline-grabbing year while also managing to humanize the “punk” caricature that resulted.
At the time of press Justin has already hit Beijing’s Mastercard Center stage. Incidentally, martial arts film legend Jackie Chan sent flowers before the show.
