Justin Bieber Lands Eight Guinness World Records, All Hail The Prince Of Pop

Justin Bieber has just nabbed eight Guinness World Records. These will feature in the 2017 edition of the records. The pop superstar’s feat is mostly thanks to milestone achievements resulting from the release of his acclaimed fourth studio album, Purpose .

The album marked a stunning return to form for the prince of pop following well-documented troubles. Packed with earworms and introspective songs, fans and the general public rapturously received it when it dropped on November 13, 2015.

The lead single, “What Do You Mean,” set the Guinness World Record as the most streamed track on Spotify in one week with 30,723,708 streams. Meanwhile, Purpose was streamed 205 million times worldwide in seven days and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Bieber holds the record for the most simultaneous new entries on Billboard’s Hot 100 when 17 songs from the 18-track deluxe album version of Purpose hit the December 5 (2015) dated chart.

The Canadian singer also set a record for having the most simultaneous new entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (13) in the top 40, shortly after his album rolled out.

In addition to chart records, Bieber set a Guinness World Record when he became the first artist to take the top three chart positions on the UK’s official Top 40 singles chart in January, 2016, with Purpose hits “Love Yourself,” “Sorry,” and “What Do You Mean?”

As one of the biggest social media users, Bieber also set records with his YouTube and Twitter accounts. He has amassed nearly 10.5 billion streams at his official VEVO channel on YouTube, making it the most viewed music channel on the platform. That figure is a cumulative count of streams from the 120 videos uploaded to the page since 2009. The Biebs broke Rihanna’s former record of 6,884,884,873 views.

Although Katy Perry currently has the largest following on Twitter , Justin sets the Guinness world record as the most followed male on the social media network, with 85,235,563 followers and counting.

Bieber also lands a Guinness World Record for the most subscribers on YouTube for a male artist. The Grammy winner currently has 20,711,202 subscribers at his YouTube Channel JustinBieberVEVO .

Guinness staff presented the Biebs with his certificates before one of his sold-out concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York earlier this year.

Meanwhile, in other Justin Bieber music news, he tops the UK Official Singles Chart for a fifth consecutive week with “Cold Water,” his collaborative single with Major Lazer and Danish singer MØ, who also provides vocals on the song.

“Cold Water” battled all week with Bieber’s “Let Me Love You” collaboration with French producer DJ Snake. The former track moved just over 71,500 combined chart sales, with “Let Me Love You” falling 1,469 units behind that figure, which saw it take the No. 2 spot on the UK chart.

“Cold Water” also slays when it comes to streaming. The track racked up 5.03 million plays, which makes it the most listened to track in the UK this week.

Right now, Bieber is riding high in multiple charts around the world with his two collaborations, and will resume his sold out Purpose World Tour in Iceland on September 8 after a short break. Without question, the pop icon’s eight Guinness World Records seals his comeback — and then some.
