Unused conceptual artwork for the version of Jurassic Park 4 that never made it to the big screen features a bevy of interesting designs that would have certainly taken the franchise in a completely different direction. According to Cinema Blend , the script penned by The Departed scribe William Monahan back in 2005 would have included a number of intriguing creatures, including human-dinosaur hybrids. While these monsters are certainly intriguing, chances are this wasn’t what producers had in mind.

Not surprisingly, director John Sayles’ version of Jurassic Park 4 never made it to the big screen. Had the film come to fruition, audiences would have been treated to an action-packed experience that wouldn’t have looked out of place on SyFy. According to Reddit user Sketchampm, the movie would have taken place at a top-secret facility where scientists are experimenting with dinosaur-human hybrids. The purpose of this peculiar research, of course, is to give these dino-people the ability to fight crime. Chaos would likely ensue. An interesting concept, for sure, though drastically different from the book and Steve Spielberg’s cinematic endeavor.

According to First Showing , the aforementioned Reddit user posted a link to an Ain’t It Cool News review of the script from way back in 2007. In his write-up, site contributor Moriarity explained, “This is no-holds-barred SF/horror/action with none of the staring-up-at-a-special-effect-in-awe tone of the first three films. This is a drive-in movie, slightly unhinged from page one, with some truly hissable human villains and some outrageous monster characters.”

Now that Steven Spielberg is producing Jurassic Park 4 , chances are most of these insane ideas have been cast aside in favor of something more in line with the previous installments. The fact that Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver have been hired to pen the script suggests that Spielberg wants nothing to do with John Sayles’ version of the film.
