Josh Duggar has admitted to having an Ashley Madison account and being unfaithful to his wife, and his shocking confession comes just days after he tried to prove that he’s a good guy by showing off his charitable side.
Josh Duggar was the first celebrity whose name was discovered in the leaked Ashley Madison account information that was dumped online by hackers. Ashley Madison is a website that was created to help men cheat on their wives, and Josh wanted to make sure that the site delivered what he wanted — according to Gawker , he shelled out $250 for a “Money-back ‘affair guarantee.’ ” Josh Duggar had two accounts, and he spent a total of $986.76 looking for someone to have sex with.
In a message that was posted on the Duggar Family website today, Josh didn’t specifically mention his Ashley Madison account. However, the former Family Research Council executive director did confess that he’s “been the biggest hypocrite ever” for spending the last few years preaching about family values while cheating on his wife and the mother of his four children, Anna Duggar.
“While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife … The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country, I was hiding my own personal failings.”
Josh’s latest confession comes three months after he revealed that he sexually molested four of his sisters and one other girl. That admission led to the cancellation of the Duggar family’s TV series, 19 Kids and Counting , and it turned Josh into a social pariah. However, some fans of Duggars have continued to show their support for the family by campaigning to get the show back on the air .
Josh has been pretty silent since his making his first confession, but he recently made a social media move that indicated that he was moving on with his life and setting out to prove that he’s capable of doing something good. Unfortunately, he couldn’t resist being a bit boastful while doing so.
On August 17, Josh shared an Instagram post asking his followers to donate to the GoFundMe account of Clark Wilson, a family friend who is undergoing cancer treatment. According to the Duggar Family News: Life is Not All Pickles and Hairspray Facebook page, Josh and Anna Duggar donated $500 to Wilson’s family. GoFundMe allows users to choose whether they want to include their names with their donation amounts or whether they want to remain anonymous, and you can guess which option Josh chose .
“Josh gave $500 and bragged about it,” Pickles and Hairspray wrote. “Most others donated anonymously. Josh got a lot of money from TLC and FRCAction and he can only spare $500?” Josh even wrote a special message underneath his donation to really make it stand out.
So, Josh only gave $500 to a family friend suffering from cancer, but he spent almost $1,000 on his Ashley Madison account. And Clark Wilson wasn’t just a close pal, he was a generous one — he helped the Duggars build the massive house that they’re currently living in.
While Josh wants his remaining fans to know that he’s willing to give a handout to a friend, he doesn’t think everyone is deserving of financial aid. As the Inquisitr previously reported, an OKCupid account linked to Josh has also been discovered online, and some of his answers to the dating site’s questionnaire don’t exactly paint a picture of a guy who is trying to be as Jesus-like as possible ( Gawker reports that the OKCupid account has been deleted , but a commenter on the Freejinger website posted screenshots of the dating profile on Photobucket.)
In response to a question about how he feels about government-subsidized food programs like food stamps , Josh chooses the option “Never – Get a Job.” He also reveals that he’s the type of person who will tell a homeless person to get a job.
Now that Josh Duggar confirmed that he was paying Ashley Madison to help him hook up with random women, the Duggar family motto “Buy used, save the difference” takes on a whole new meaning.
