Jinger Duggar’s boyfriend, 28-year-old former soccer pro Jeremy Vuolo, has already confessed to getting arrested when he was in college, but he didn’t share the whole story.
Jinger and Jeremy’s courtship is being filmed for the upcoming season of the Duggar family’s TV series Counting On , and it’s highly doubtful that fans of the show will see the couple drinking margaritas during any of their dates; it’s no secret that the Duggars are against enjoying even the occasional alcoholic beverage. However, Jinger Duggar’s boyfriend enjoyed a little too much alcohol when he was a 20-year-old college student attending Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York. According to an arrest report obtained by InTouch Weekly through a Freedom of Information Act request, Jeremy Vuolo was arrested in 2008 after getting intoxicated and harassing a police officer.
Police were investigating a possible assault involving one of Jeremy’s friends when Jeremy began “acting belligerent and shouting obscenities.” Officers tried to calm him down, but he wasn’t having it; he ended up spending the night in a holding cell after he walked up to a police officer “and grabbed his right arm/bicep in a forceful manner.” Jeremy Vuolo’s blood alcohol content was.13 at the time of his arrest. He was released to a sober friend, a court date was scheduled, and he later paid a $250 fine.
Jeremy insists that he’s left his party days behind, and he’s now the pastor of the Grace Community Church in Laredo, Texas. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Jinger Duggar’s boyfriend mentions his short stint in jail in a “testimony” video that was shared on his church’s website. According to Jeremy , his downward spiral started in high school when he “began to drink and attend parties on the weekend with different people.”
“I was part of the college scene and was living foolishly. I began sliding deeper and deeper into the pits of lust, selfishness, and pride… At one point, it got so bad that I even spent the night in a holding cell at the local police station for refusing to obey a police officer during a night downtown.”
Jeremy Vuolo’s testimony can also be read on the “ My Faith ” segment of his website. It’s almost a word-for-word transcription of what he says in the testimony video, but he has omitted his short anecdote about spending the night in jail. He also doesn’t mention drinking alcohol.
As the International Business Times points out, if Jeremy Vuolo marries Jinger Duggar , he “will be far from the first member of the Duggar clan to have a dark past.” Last May, InTouch Weekly used a Freedom of Information Act request to obtain police reports documenting the sexual molestation that once went on in the Duggar household. They included Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s confessions that their oldest son, Josh Duggar, had molested four of his younger sisters.
To many, sexual molestation might seem far more sinful than getting drunk and grabbing the arm of a police officer. However, Jinger Duggar’s pastor boyfriend seemingly believes that all sins are created equal.
“God will have His day in court, and He won’t stop at punishing murderers, but He will punish all sin wherever it is found,” Jeremy writes . “You might say, ‘Yes, I admit I’ve sinned, but I’m not as bad as Stalin or Hitler!’ Of course, we can all find someone worse than us to compare ourselves with, but on Judgment Day we won’t be tried in comparison with others, but in comparison to the perfect standard of God’s righteousness.”
Jinger Duggar’s potential husband also doesn’t believe that good works help people find favor with God.
“Anyone trying to earn the right to Heaven by performing good deeds is under the curse and condemnation of God!” Jeremy writes.
