Jim Carrey was somewhat differently famous when the film Dumb and Dumber wowed audiences back in 1994.
Yes, it has been like, twenty years since Jim Carrey hit the scene as a hugely successful slapstick actor, starring in the Ace Ventura series of films, as well as The Mask , and of course, Dumb and Dumber . About a decade later, a sequel titled Dumb and Dumberer hit, but it didn’t have the box office success of the first film.
A third Dumb and Dumber sequel would almost definitely require Jim Carrey to allow for any measure of profitability, but the actor has said that he is no longer interested in the project — and it’s not anything to do with not wanting to live in a world where three versions of the Dumb and Dumber film were produced, filmed and marketed.
MTV quotes EW , with a statement from Jim Carrey on his breakup with the latest Dumb and Dumber project:
“The ‘ET’ website offered the following insight into why Carrey left the film: ‘According to sources, Carrey grew increasingly frustrated by New Line and Warner Brothers, who he felt showed a lack of enthusiasm regarding the project.’
“Carrey’s representatives passed along this official statement from the actor. ‘I would have thought ‘Dumb and Dumber To’ was a no-brainer,’ he said. “After all, it’s implied in the title.’”
Did you catch that? Yes, Jim Carrey referred to the film as Dumb and Dumber To , which was apparently the movie’s working title. Jim Carrey and the rest of the returning cast were expected to begin filming the second sequel in September.
