Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are making the most of their time back in the states. The couple recently took advantage of Krispy Kreme’s “Talk Like a Pirate Day” free donut giveaway by dressing up like a couple of modestly-dressed marauders.
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard weren’t alone when they went out in search of sugary booty. The swashbucklers are taking a month-long break from their long-term mission trip in Central America, so they’ve been spending some of their free time hanging out with Jill’s massive family. Obviously, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar couldn’t resist taking advantage of their visit by making them babysit a few of Jill’s younger siblings, and the couple just happened to be home on Talk Like a Pirate Day.
“Headed to Krispy Kreme for free doughnuts!” the photos below were captioned. They were taken today and shared on the Duggar Family Official Facebook page and the Duggar Family Twitter page.
As you can see, baby Israel went all out with his Blackbeard costume. Jill Duggar has one of Jim Bob’s neckties tied around her head, and she doesn’t make a very scary-looking pirate. Luckily, Derick Dillard is ready to defend his crew from the other buccaneers plundering their local Krispy Kreme — he’s wearing a chest harness with a knife in it.
In the photo above, it’s pretty easy to tell that most members of the Duggar family are supposed to be pirates. However, Josie doesn’t make a very convincing buccaneer with her flip-flops and pigtails. Luckily, she has her swashbuckler snarl down pat.
Jackson Duggar’s costume was so impressive that he got his own photo collage on the Duggar Family Facebook page.
Justin Duggar (top left) added a wig to his pirate costume, and two of Josh Duggar’s kids, Mackynzie and Michael (bottom left), joined Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard’s Krispy Kreme crew.
Jill Duggar also shared a photo and video from the Talk Like a Pirate Day trip on her Instagram page. The video showed the family celebrating their sweet spoils, and the photo showed Jill and Derick being benevolent buccaneers by giving away a bit of their booty. Derick really committed to his costume by going barefoot.

According to TIME , Krispy Kreme customers can score one free donut today simply by talking like a pirate — saying “Arrgh!” or “Ahoy, matey!” will suffice. If you take a page from the Duggar family by dressing up like a pirate, you can score a dozen donuts. However, you need at least three pieces of pirate garb to take full advantage of the Talk Like a Pirate Day promotion. A few of the younger members of Jill Duggar’s crew don’t look like they meet this requirement, but maybe Krispy Kreme will make an exception if you’re a cute corsair.
