Jill Duggar Dillard stunned many when she announced that she would be moving overseas with her husband, Derick, and newborn baby, Israel, in a bid to participate in long-term mission work. The surprise announcement was made to the Duggar family back in May and later announced to the public in June . Though the Dillard family has not disclosed which country they will be moving to for their mission work, many have speculated Nepal as a likely choice as Derick has spent a lot of time in the country on previous missions. It appears that after spending a fun-filled week with their families, the Dillard family has boarded a plane and are officially on their way to their new lives overseas.
Jessa Duggar Seewald shared a photo to her Instagram account earlier today that showed Jill and Derick Dillard, along with newborn baby Israel, boarding an airplane. Jessa notes that after nearly a year of prayer, the Dillard family is heading into the mission field.
“So excited for @jillmdillard & @derickdillard ! They’ve been praying about and working towards this transition since late last year, and are so excited to finally be heading to the mission field! Please continue to pray for them! And be sure to check out their blog at www.dillardfamily.com”
As Derick Dillard’s blog post indicated during the long-term mission announcement, despite the “unknowns,” the family decided to make the leap and commit to international mission work.
“There were definitely more “unknowns” with the international option. God was definitely testing my faith in Him by bringing about this choice in our lives. A friend of ours wisely shared that if God was leading us to serve Him abroad, we should pursue it as early as possible, to avoid a more difficult move later, when our roots are deep and we’re more comfortable in life. Ultimately, in life there is nothing more important than simply loving, following and obeying our Creator.”
All of the Duggars have remained silent on exactly where Jill Dillard and the newest Duggar grandbaby Israel are headed. However, many have speculated that Nepal is a likely choice as Derick has spent quite some time in the region and would be more comfortable making such a drastic move with his young family. Despite Derick having lived in Nepal for some time, people have still criticized the young family’s choice to move overseas with such a young baby. What do you think about the Dillard family’s decision to head overseas with their newborn to pursue mission work? What country do you think the Dillard family will be calling home with their work in missions?
